Tourism: strategies to boost the industry

Strategies are being implemented by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) to give a new boost to the Tourism Industry.

An aggressive marketing campaign will be launched in targeted source destinations in Europe and the region.

Outlook looks good for a robust and sustained penetration of emerging markets, like China, India, and Russia, in niche market segments. The Ministry of Tourism will soon hold promotional campaign in those markets in weeks to come.

There will also be enhanced diversification initiatives through the promotion of Mauritius as a high and up-market luxury destination.

Tourism Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Local Government and Outer Islands, is carrying out a cleanliness and embellishment campaign to upgrade all tourist sites.
